Over and over

Cardigan: Topman
Top: Topshop
Necklace: Matalan
Skirt: H&M

I'm sure I've worn something very similar to this in a blog post before, but anyway this is one of my go-to outfits when all else fails. If my blog were to be a truly accurate representation of what I wear each day it would get very boring and repetitive as all I really wear most days is my work uniform, and then leggings and a jumper when I get home. I've also realised that a lot of my favourite clothes are in fact from the men's sections in shops. Men's clothes just have better sizing and they usually fit better, how sad!

Daily Make-Up

Let me be the first to admit it, I don't find the topic of make-up/beauty products particularly interesting. I don't wear much make-up and I rarely change the products I use. I also refuse to spend a lot of money on my make-up and I usually stick to the same or very similar products when I am re-buying.

I know people seem to like beauty posts and reviews on blogs so I've included a mini-review of each product in my collection just so people can see what I think! I have pale skin with very faded freckles which is why I don't really wear foundation, and my skin is pretty balanced in terms of oily/dryness as far as I can tell! I'm definitely not an expert...

I've listed the products here in the order that I use them in my daily routine.

Benefit POREfessional
I actually don't use this very often as I rarely wear foundation (when I do I wear Rimmel Time Renew in Ivory). At the moment I've only got the freebie sample that came with Glamour and I don't think I use it enough to justify replacing it for the full-size amount when I run out. I usually wear this on nights out or special occasions as it gives a nice base to apply foundation to.

Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer in Ivory
I am ridiculously pale and it's actually really hard to find make-up that doesn't look orange on me. I find that Rimmel have the best range of 'pale' shades. This concealer isn't amazing to be fair as it's quite dry. I bought this as a cheap replacement when my No7 concealer ran out, but next time I will definitely invest in the No7 one again!

Rimmel Eyeliner in Jet Black
As far as I'm concerned, eyeliner is eyeliner, although maybe I just think that because I've never tried another one?! I use this on the upper inside-y part of my eyelids to help my eyelashes look thicker and to make my eyes look a bit more open, if that makes sense? My eyelids are quite low (droopy?) and so I only wear make-up on the top of my eyes because I find it makes them look wider.

Models Own Hi Definer Pro-Eyeliner
I really like Models Own products as they don't test on animals. This eyeliner is pretty good but I wouldn't say it's perfect. I find that the first 'coat' comes out quite thin and streaky and I have to wait for it to dry until I can patch it up, although after that it looks great! It lasts really well except in the outer corners of my eyes where it sometimes wears off; if  you have watery eyes I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The brush is really easy to use though and I know this can often be an issue with liquid eyeliners.

Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara
Again this is just a freeb from Glamour (I'm on a student budget!) but I absolutely love it! I have quite long eyelashes anyway but this just makes them look amazing! My only beef with this product is that it doesn't make them look much thicker - they usually look a bit spidery, but I guess I'm used to that anyway. If I want my lashes to look thicker I usually wear Eylure fake ones.

17 Blush and Glow in Peaches and Cream
This blusher is really good and I like that it has a highlighter with it. I normally swirl my brush around the pot to mix the two. I don't like glittery make-up and this has a bit of a shine but no sparkle which is perfect. I wish this was available in more colours as it's a teeny bit dark for me, but I usually stick to coral-y blush as I have quite pink cheeks anyway and I look a bit daft with pink blusher!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Pink Blossom
Another super-pale product from Rimmel! This powder is just unbelievably good. It lasts all day and it doesn't look chalky on the skin, I can't really think what else to say, I definitely recommend it!

Beach Break Live 2012

As I mentioned previously, I spent this weekend (Wednesday - Monday) at Beach Break Festival in South Wales. I volunteered there as a steward to gain some events-related work experience and in return I got a free ticket. My job basically involved standing around by gates stopping people coming in/out or hovering around by tents in case people want to ask a question.

Overall I didn't really enjoy my time there. I found the work to be really boring and I was left alone for a lot of it. Also the weather was AWFUL. According to local radio reports we had up to 50mph winds and a month's worth of rain over three days. The only nice days (when the photos in this post were taken) were the day we arrived and the day we left, typical Britain!

I did get to see Chase and Status which was fun, and I met some really nice people, but I really wouldn't recommend working as a steward at a festival unless you are getting paid. For me the free ticket wasn't enough because I wasn't really into any of the bands or things that were going on. Also I have a really short attention span so standing around on my own for up to 8 hours at a time made me want to die a little bit.

I'm not one to give up easily and I'm also sickeningly optimistic, so I am stewarding again at Camp Bestival in July (I'd already applied before Beach Break!) so maybe it will be better and I will change my opinion of volunteering. We'll see...

At least I got some nice photos out of it :)

All these photos were taken with a cheapy disposable camera from Boots. I've learned from this set that I need to use the viewfinder more often!

New shoes

Yesterday I went into town to buy some supplies for Beach Break this weekend! I also ended up buying two new pairs of shoes! I was looking for some crappy black pumps that it didn't matter if I wrecked a little bit at the festival but managed to find these hidden behind some flip flops in H&M and I just had to buy them! Definitely not taking them with me tomorrow, they're too nice!

I also had a top to return (New Look seriously need to sort their sizing out!) but it was exchange only so I ended up getting these espadrilles. I have never been a fan of these kinds of shoes but I thought they'd be handy for the beach when I go on holiday, and they were only £7.

I also got a major bargain in Boots, some Eylure lashes on clearance £1.06! Annoyingly they only had 'underlashes' left but I bought a few packs anyway because their glue is so good!

Also I bought Models Own High Define liquid eyeliner, which has proved to be pretty impressive so I might do a review of it next week when I'm back from Beach Break!

Let the wild rumpus start!

Feel like such a complete poser in this picture but I absolutely love this hood I made about two years ago for a fancy dress party at college. I was Max from Where the Wild Things Are, btw ;) Nobody got it and I felt like a bit of a twat but that story is really special to me (it's second to my number one favourite of The Very Hungry Caterpillar).

I rediscovered this hood in a bag in my wardrobe while I was packing for Beach Break. I've done quite a bit of shopping over the past two days in preparation for the festival so I'll probably post about it all tomorrow!
